Elf???

by admin on Feb.05, 2008, under The Blog

One of my friends lent Celeste a snow suit. She looks like a little purple elf in it. She was so embarrassed that she wouldn’t even look at the camera when I took this picture.

Pathways Program

by admin on Feb.05, 2008, under The Blog

Well, I decided that I needed some help on deciding what I wanted to be when I grow up (ya, I’m still working on that…growing up that is). So off I went to EI where I signed myself up for a career counseling program. It was 3 weeks of intensive research and grueling hours at the hands of the Federal Government employment councilors. Actually, it was 3 weeks of fun, and socializing. So besides coming out of the program with some direction, I managed to meet all lot of nice people and make a few friends.

This year I worked at Sears as a seasonal employee in the Children’s Wear Dept. So besides leaving my paycheck there, Celeste got to attend the annual children’s x-mas party. Here she is having fun decorating cookies.

Kamloops at Night

by admin on Feb.05, 2008, under The Blog

That pointy thing in the distance is the pedestrian crosswalk over the CN rail.

Here you go, cousin Anna! (o.k., this one needs some explaining. Here goes…most of my family has at one point, or is still working at a McDonald’s. Cousin Anna and cousin Lisa are currently McDonald’s managers. So, we have started a tradition of taking pictures of McDonald’s restaurant’s as we travel the world. This one is actually in one of Kamloops’ historical buildings. Unfortunately I was too close to get a full shot of it.)

The Old Courthouse. In the summer months they have a jazz band, craft fair, and art display every thursday night.

The Keg

by admin on Feb.05, 2008, under The Blog

Here we are at The Keg Steakhouse, located in the 1927 restored CN rail station, along the South Thompson River. During the spring and summer months you can catch a ride on the restored 2141 ‘Spirit of Kamloops’ steam engine. The steam engine will take you for a 1 hour tour along the river and across a steel trestle bridge, to First Nations lands and past St. Joseph’s Church, a historic site, before crossing Paul Creek on the way to the CN Junction. I hear that on the return trip there is even a reenactment of Bill Miner and his gang robbing the train! Perhaps we’ll take a ride on the train this summer, but for now we’ll just enjoy the atmosphere and a good steak dinner with the Zia.
