The Detroit Zoo

by admin on Sep.10, 2007, under The Blog

One morning, while in Windsor, we set out for The Detroit Zoo with Zia Enza and Nonna.

We drove through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel to get to the States. The tunnel is under the Detroit River, and the entrance is located in downtown Windsor and takes you to downtown Detroit. I always feel a little nervous and somewhat claustrophobic while driving through it as realize that the whole Detroit River is up above us.

Throughout the zoo, you’ll find these painted elephant feet. I still remember how on my first school field trip in grade one to the zoo I thought that the prints were HUGE!!! They don’t look that big to me anymore.

Crazy peacock…..it needs to learn to look both ways before it crosses the road!

Celeste is quite captivated by the polar bear swimming in the aquarium.

Windsor’s Waterfront

by admin on Sep.10, 2007, under The Blog

Day or night, one of my favourite things to do is to take a walk along Windsor’s waterfront. With all the sculpture’s, park’s, walkway’s, and garden’s, you’ll need more than one evening to take it all in.

The Detroit skyline at night.

On the boardwalk.

Playing at one of the many playgrounds.

The Ambassador Bridge is located on the west end of the city. On the left hand side you have the City of Windsor, and on the right you have the City of Detroit, otherwise known as “Motown”.

Relaxing at another one of the waterfront’s playgrounds.

Zio Lorenzo’s Birthday

by admin on Sep.10, 2007, under The Blog

While in Windsor Celeste helped Zio celebrate his birthday. It’s a good thing Nonna only put a couple of sparklers on that cake, otherwise we might have had to call the fire department!!!

Windsor boasts some of the hottest summer’s in Canada. So even though we were enjoying the heat, we enjoyed cooling off in the pool even more.

Cousin Rosetta’s Wedding

by admin on Sep.10, 2007, under The Blog

In mid-July Celeste and I headed back to Windsor for our cousin Rosetta’s wedding. We just couldn’t miss “the party of the year”. Here’s a picture of the head table….wow!!!

Celeste took a minute to hang out with the junior bridesmaid, her cousin, Victoria.

Never one to miss out on the action, Celeste and her cousin Olivia headed out to the dance floor to strut their stuff.
Cousin Rosetta and Brian, the happy couple!

Not satisfied by the 7 course meal of fine Caboto Club cuisine, Celeste had uncle Chad drive her to McDonald’s for french fries. On the way, she sang “goin to the Donald’s…..goin to the Donald’s”. (We have daddy to blame for the addiction to fries)

The cousin’s drink to the happy couple!
